Tammy's Start at Basketball

Born and raised in Markham, Ontario, Canada, Tammy's first successes in basketball occurred in her high school years. For four consecutive years, she led the Markham District High School Maurauders to the regional championship. Toronto Star also named her Canada's top female basketball prospect.

Collegiate Success

Upon graduation, Tammy was recruited to play basketball for the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights in New Jersey under the direction of the legendary coach, C. Vivian Stringer. Stringer's leadership and Tammy's now collegiate level skills granted her the opportunity to call herself a Professional Basketball Player and become a globally recognized household name.

Deemed a great player from her freshman year, Tammy led her team to the NCAA Final Four in 2000 as well as to conference championships. Field goal percentage and blocks were a major part of her lead. Tammy enjoyed most of her collegiate success as an upper classman. After putting up huge numbers (39 points and 17 boards) in three games during her junior year, she was signed to the Big East Team. It was then that she led the team to its first ever Women's Final Four appearance.

The WNBA

By 2001, Tammy's talent was so widely recognized that she became an 18th draft pick to the Charlotte Sting and the second Canadian to ever play in the WNBA. The 6’3” center spent six seasons excelling her career with them and was later selected for the 2002 WNBA All Star Team. However, the Charlotte team folded in 2007 and Tammy began anew with the Indiana Fever, where once again, she was selected to be a member of the 2007 WNBA All Star Team.
