In the book, a six-year-old girl named Cree, and her pet chameleon, Scooter, form a special bond in which they have a series of magical adventures taking them around the world.
The first book in the series begins in Canada, where Cree and Scooter hit the slopes in the mountains of British Columbia.
Inspiration for the books was drawn from experiences while playing professionally overseas.
“One year, I played in Istanbul, Turkey and I was telling some people about it and some of them didn't know where Turkey was,” she recalled. “Because of that, I wanted to do something to teach youngsters things of a geographic nature that exposed me to a world beyond North America.
“From there it developed into a book.”
